The Boston Design Center is New England’s premier resource for design professionals—with showrooms featuring over 1,200 luxury product lines of fabric, furniture, lighting, antiques, fine art, wall and floor coverings, kitchen and bath components, and contract services. The creative and entrepreneurial spirit that presided in South Boston’s 20th Century manufacturing and warehousing zones lives on in the workspaces of today’s innovation economy businesses. Today the 1.4 million square foot Innovation and Design Building is home to a dynamic mix of companies and industries that include architecture and creative service studios, specialized manufacturing facilities, research and development firms, and technology start-ups. At its western end the IDB complex is anchored by the Boston Design Center, New England’s premier resource for design professionals, with showrooms featuring more than 1,200 luxury furnishing and decorating product lines.

Short term 90 minute visitor parking is available in designated spaces across from the building entry off Drydock Avenue. Located on the 2nd floor, you'll find a relaxing space for client meetings. Boston Design Center maintains an automated visitor parking lot off of Drydock Avenue adjacent to the BDC. Payment for parking by credit only is collected at the lot exit gate.

Whether you want a project completed immediately, or are looking for a plan to be executed gradually over time, a designer is happy to work with you on an approach that accommodates your priorities and budgetary needs. Acting as a budget manager, the designer will help you optimize your design funds, whether it's integrating your existing furniture into a new design scheme or offering several design alternatives for a particular interior. The Innovation and Design Building is located in the Boston Marine Industrial Park (BMIP), part of the Seaport’s Innovation District nestled between downtown and South Boston.

The Innovation and Design Building is home to a diverse mix of companies and entrepreneurs, including architects and engineers, skilled makers and craftspeople, research and development firms, and technology start-ups. Boston Design Center, Reebok, America’s Test Kitchen, Autodesk, EPAM Continuum, Ginkgo Bioworks, Neoscape, Elkus Manfredi Architects and The Boston Beer Company are just some of the tenants at the Innovation and Design Building. The complex is conveniently located along the MBTA Silver Line route, just minutes from South Station, and is flanked by one of the country’s largest working dry docks to the north and by the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal to the south. If you need an interior designer to guide you, we have a welcoming and knowledgeable Design Services team to help you. There is no visitor parking in the front courtyard or on the south side of the building. Visitor parking is not permitted in reserved or permit parking spaces.

The BMIP is home to more than 200 businesses and 3,000 employees and has a rich history as a center of marine industry. IDB is flanked by one of the country’s largest working dry docks to the north and by the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal to the south, affording building employees a firsthand view of the impressive military and passenger ships that visit Boston Harbor throughout the year. The Innovation and Design Building is conveniently located along the MBTA Silver Line route, just minutes from South Station, and is within walking distance of the residential neighborhoods of the Seaport and South Boston, as well as area amenities and cultural institutions. The Boston Design Center, located in the booming Seaport District, is home to 87 showrooms featuring products for contract and residential interiors. Our team provided design, bidding and construction administration services for the replacement of over 100,000 SF of roofing at the BDC. The project included removal of existing EPDM and BUR roofing down to the concrete deck, and installation of a new insulated EPDM membrane system.
